Depacking. Food waste and more.
In 2008, Mavitec, one of the international leaders in production of equipment for rendering industry, started the Mavitec Green Energy division to specialize in food waste & depackaging solutions. In 2016 the Paddle Depacker© was launched. This unique depacking solution entered the market at the right time and, due to its high capacity (up to 30 m3 / h) and relatively low investment, became a bestseller in Europe. Nowadays the Paddle Depacker© is still one of Mavitec’s flagship products.
In Russia, the first machine was installed in 2018 at the largest biogas plant in the raw material receiving section. The second machine was installed in 2019 on the same plant!
Based on the European experience in the implementation of such equipment and after amendments to the law – on the basics of state regulation of trading activities (381-FZ), which entered into force on December 9, 2018 (446-FZ) – a boom in the segment of these systems in the Russian Federation was to be expected from 2019.
Unfortunately, this “boom” did not happen. Even despite the fact that, according to our data, only two of the large retail chains dispose up to 900,000 tons of food waste annually in Rostov region, of which at least 30% is organic.
In Europe, the application area for such equipment is clear – it is the separation of organics from inorganics with high efficiency (up to 99.5% clean) for subsequent use of the so-called “organic soup” as the main high-calorie substrate for biogas production. In Russia the number of biogas plants is small, and this segment is developing, in this regard, Mavitec Green Energy is actively promoting its solutions and trying to develop a concept for using “depackers” in industries that are relevant and interesting for the Russian market. In our turn, the experience gained in Europe allows us to say with confidence that depacking is relevant not only for food products, but also, for example, for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
A good example is the sale of another machine to one of the leading companies that provide collection, removal, processing, rehanging and disposal of wastes with various hazard classes in Yaroslavl region at the end of 2021.
It should be noted, that we at Mavitec Green Energy are looking for not just customers, but for true like-minded people to develop and implement solutions for automatic food and organic waste depacking in the Russian Federation!
