A waste processing company near Valencia, Spain, processes organic waste from supermarkets alongside the production and sale of compost, fertilisers and other gardening products. As part of its growth strategy, the company aimed to expand its services by accepting a wider range of packaged organic waste streams.

This required a depackaging solution capable of handling varying input materials as volumes and compositions change.

The incoming material mainly consists of packaged supermarket waste with fluctuating compositions and moisture levels. Some batches require wet processing, for example products such as dairy or meat products, while others such as bread, tortillas, snack products or coffee capsules are better suited for dry operation. To operate efficiently, the installation needed to switch smoothly between wet and dry configurations without compromising process stability. At the same time, the solution had to integrate into a relatively small-scale facility, keeping daily operation straightforward and manageable.

Mavitec Green Energy supplied a Paddle Depacker Model S line, executed in stainless steel and configured for both wet and dry operation. The system separates packaging from the organic fraction efficiently, producing a clean organic output suitable for further processing.

Based on experience from comparable installations, the configuration was optimised to improve the transition between wet and dry modes. This adjustment enhances operational flexibility while maintaining stable throughput and consistent separation performance. The optimisation was implemented in close coordination with the customer and local agent.

With the Paddle Depacker Model S in operation, the customer now processes packaged supermarket waste with greater control and adaptability. The installation provides the flexibility required to handle different waste streams while maintaining a stable and reliable process.

By combining a robust depackaging principle with practical engineering adjustments, the solution supports both current operations and future expansion plans, without introducing unnecessary complexity to the plant.

We recently added a Mobile Paddle Depacker Model S to our rental fleet, allowing waste processors to test the system with their own material before investing. Our specialists support waste processors worldwide in configuring reliable depackaging solutions tailored to their specific material streams and operational requirements.
